Aren't we lucky to have an island and a castle of our own!

They gazed through a big broken-down archway, to old steps beyond. The castle had once had two fine towers, but now one was almost gone. The other rose high in the air, half-ruined.

  1. Hello Barbara,

Oh, how I loved those books when I was a child! I had some secondhand copies with those illustrations, too. Say what you like about Blyton, she got us all reading by ourselves from a very young age.

Found you through the BookBlogs "find friends and followers" link - and now following for more.

  2. How awesome. I am just the biggest fan of Mary Louise Wilkins illustrations and buy anything I find by her. Brings back memories of childhood. Thanks.

  3. Hi Barbara,

I LOVE the famous five. I used to settle into my bean bag (it was the 70s) and not get up until I had read the whole book.

I was happy read that booksellers get to spend the day in pyjamas, too! :)

  4. Hi Jodie
I used to lay on the rug in front of the fire (in the 50s) - don't think we had bean bags then?
I really enjoyed reading about your pj days I thought I was the only one!
