Three gifts one lucky person; a brand new book, a vintage book and a postcard!

Oh! Poor Amelia Jane!  The Heritage Card Company sent me a copy of this new edition of a popular Edwardian children’s story written and illustrated by Kathleen Ainslie. It tells the story of the accident-prone Amelia Jane in ‘hand-written’ text, and bright colourful illustrations.

A Sunday trip by E. J. Romanes with four black and white illustrations by ‘H.R’ published by S. W. Partridge, London, undated but a gift inscription ‘to Hilda, from Ralph Xmas 1914’.

This pretty postcard was found in ‘a Sunday trip’ so I’ve included it in the giveaway. Mere et enfants (Mother and children) by Auguste Renoir. Frick Collection, New York. Editions Hazan, Paris. Unused but it does have two small pin holes in the top edge.

If you aren't lucky enough to win the giveaway, The Heritage Card Company have copies of Oh! Poor Amelia Jane! (revised edition) in stock. Or, if you are looking for an original version published c1905, you may find one at Stella and Rose's books they had a copy at time of writing.

  22. Oh they are darling books! Oh! Poor Amelia Jane! My mother use to read me that almost every night; it looks just the same, only mine burned in a terrible fire at my aunts house one summer. How amazing is it that you are giving it away, I've been looking for it for years.

Hello Claudine, I was hoping you would call in and see the giveaway – I love it when ‘worldwide’ blog friends enter. The artwork on the postcard is lovely, and the nicest thing is the card will be staying with the book it was found in. Your name is now in the hat; I really hope you will be lucky.

I came here while trying to find a book that I had when I was a kid. I have not found it as cannot remember the title. It was a book full of illustrated stories by various authors. Your blog is wonderful and what a special book you are giving away. Best of luck to everyone. I sure would love to win it too.

Hello Shashi, thanks for calling in. You are very welcome to enter the giveaway just click on the ‘join this site with Google Friends connect’ button on the right-hand side and leave another comment with a contact email. That’s it all done. I will only contact you via email if you win the giveaway, I’m not asking for emails for any other reason.
Regarding your ‘missing’ book you need to try to write down as many details as possible, things like, cloth or paper covering to the boards, picture on the front board, dust jacket, size, any of the stories, was it new when you had it or could it be much older. Try to remember every small detail because things like that really help when trying to find a book. There are lots of book search agents online, or you could send the details to me, and I will try to find it for you. Barbara
