The Bath Vintage & Antiques Market

Today was our second visit to this fabulous undercover fair held at Green Park Station. Books were in fairly short supply but all the other good things more than made up for it.

Hats off to the organisers!

Delicious drinks and snacks

Fabulous goodies

The Must-Dash dance troupe preparing to put on a show

Sorting out the music

Let's Rock!

The market really is a treasure trove; vintage fashion, soft furnishings, kitchenalia, leather luggage and vintage knick-knacks are all here.

How cute are these?

My favourite 'photo of the day

Thanks for letting me use these Sarah!  Sarah Corbett Illustration website

Scarves for just £1.00...now that's tempting...

but not quite as tempting as this pretty brooch
There’s nothing quite like the feeling of an impulse buy!

  3. I felt like I came on a visit with you Barbara, thank you! It all looks so very English and so unlike what you would find at at fete or fair here in Australia - brollie's, hats, gloves and scarves would be more beach towels, bright t-shirts, sunglasses and sarongs! I love the old wall behind your photo of the day.
    Thank you :)

    1. Hi Sandy,
I’m sure I saw you there!
When our Australian daughter-on-law came to England last year, she could not resist buying a beautiful pink and brown spotted brollie. She said it made her feel like Audrey Hepburn!

  6. Oh, how I envy you - what a wonderful two days you must have had. I love Bath (and there is a wonderful pasty shop there that I often think of and miss). Your impulse purchase of that lovely brooch was just the perfect thing to do. Dancing, goodies and what appears to be a nice sunny day, what could be better.

(Ok, my dad is a Welshman, but my family is scattered around Bristol/Somerset and it has become like home to me, so maybe I am a little homesick, too)

Glad you had fun and thanks for sharing it.

    1. Hi Alex, it was a lovely sunny day but rather chilly. I felt sorry for the stall holders at the start of the day, but it soon warmed up.
What a small world, I had no idea your relatives were in this area. I will have to try to include a few more photos of Somerset just for you. Barbara

  8. ~ Hi Barbara....These are my favourite types of 'shopping trips'! browsing the stalls and meeting interesting peeps with the same ideas and likes as my self! The picture of the lady illustrator is just charming....I have Bath on my wish list to visit. And keep dropping BIG hints to my OH! ~ We had our own vintage fair, here in the Lakes, yesterday....My friend Mrs Thriftwood blog spot, did a vintage stall...I couldn't go this time....~But always love to hear all about it! LOVE your brooch! ~ with kindest thoughts....Maria x

    1. Dear Maria, thank you for your lovely comment. I will be off to look for Mrs. Thriftwood’s blog as soon as I’ve left this reply, it sounds like my kind of place!
Bath is a beautiful city. It’s just under an hour away from where we live so we are lucky to be able to visit quite often. I think the vintage fairs have been running for about a year, but we only found out about them at the end of last year, hence it was only our second visit. Now we know about it we will be going more often, it really was a lot of fun. Barbara x

  12. Vintage heaven, wish I was there.

Barbara, that's my doll..the one at the back with the yellow yarn hair and the look of surprise on her face.

The brooch is just beautiful and I would have bought that, I love vintage brooches. You could wear it with anything. At first glance it looked like it had a Christmas look about it, I just went back and took another look and it's so pretty, lots of detail.

    1. Hi Michelle, come on over there are lots more events planned for this year http://vintageandantiques.co.uk/
It’s just starting to warm up in the UK so it’s the perfect time for a visit.
It was the look of surprise on the dolls face that attracted me to it, and the fact she is sitting on top of an old ironing board!
I think the brooch is Scottish or at least has a Scottish theme. It must be because of the white heather and thistles. I wore a pale blue jacket on Sunday and the broach looked lovely on that.

  14. Is there? I have to admit I parked in the grocery store car park because I had no idea there was anywhere else to park. This calls for further investigation on my part! I agree about the "buzz in the air" it was great fun.
