Well would you look at that!

It took a while but finally the page views on my blog have surpassed the one million mark. I wondered if the counter would return to zero once it reached a million, but it is still clicking up …phew! I know some blogs get a million page views or more a day, but I didn’t expect to get any so it means the world to me. I also know page views are not the same as unique views, but I don’t care! Thank you lovely blog readers you are the best!

My wish is a long time in coming to you ...

But the longer I waited the bigger it grew - and ...

GREW!

THANK YOU!  Just like this little elephant I will never forget.

* Colour printed birthday card part of my collection.  Published by Satchwell Smiths, London, c1950s.  One sheet of paper folded to create a card that ‘grows’. I’ve added quite a few vintage Christmas cards to my collection this year and will be sharing some of them in a future post.

    1. 3:3 million now that is impressive! I did my first blog post on the 11th May 2011 so it will take about 40 years to reach 3 million! Actually I don’t think I will live that long. :-)

Tarty? That’s a classy elephant that is! She is wearing a hat and has a ribbon in her tail what more do you want?

Thank you for your kind comment and the elephant jokes.

      I've got one ..

What do you get if you cross an elephant with a kangaroo?

      Big holes all over Australia.

      Boom, boom!

    4. Thank you Sue. I searched my memory banks (such as they are) and found the elephant joke it must have been hiding in there somewhere. I wonder if I heard it in Australia? I think I must have done, if not it has been lurking there for years!

    5. Here's a little story l used to tell my daughter...

      THE BIG ELEPHANT....
One day an elephant wandered into a forest in search of friends.
He saw a monkey on a tree.
“Will you be my friend?" asked the elephant.
Replied the monkey, “You are too big. You can not swing from trees like me."
Next, the elephant met a rabbit. He asked him to be his friends.
But the rabbit said, “You are too big to play in my burrow!"
Then the elephant met a frog.
“Will you be my friend? He asked.
“How can I?" asked the frog.
“You are too big to leap about like me."
The elephant was upset. He met a fox next.
“Will you be my friend?" he asked the fox.
The fox said, “Sorry, sir, you are too big."
The next day, the elephant saw all the animals in the forest running for their lives.
The elephant asked them what the matter was.
The bear replied, “There is a tiger in the forest. He’s trying to gobble us all up!"
The animals all ran away to hide.
The elephant wondered what he could do to solve everyone in the forest.
Meanwhile, the tiger kept eating up whoever he could find.
The elephant walked up to the tiger and said, “Please, Mr. Tiger, do not eat up these poor animals."
“Mind your own business!" growled the tiger.
The elephant has a no choice but to give the tiger a hefty kick.
The frightened tiger ran for his life.
The elephant ambled back into the forest to announce the good news to everyone.
All the animals thanked the elephant.
They said, “You are just the right size to be our friend."

    1. Hi Linda, I love the elephant too. I can’t stop buying vintage cards and postcards. They are such a joy and relatively inexpensive. The other good thing is they take up little space, so I’m beginning to think they are the perfect things to collect. Thank you for your kind comment about my blog.

  13. Excellent news, Barbara. I was thrilled when I got over the 1000 views - a million is brilliant!! My next aim is 100,000 - only 75,000 to go :) The most important thing is that you are having fun. Have a super week. Love the elephant pics.

I’m glad you liked the elephant. Have a good week. Barbara

  14. Wow, I'm impressed, Barbara, congratulations! And you've got another 2400 views just in the short time between your post and my comment. The elephant card is adorable. One of my lifelong favorite riddles is about an elephant (probably because it's one of the few I can remember since childhood; in fact I think I even included it in my first Amy book.) Anyway, here goes: Why did the elephant sit on the marshmallow? So he wouldn't fall into the hot chocolate!
