Advent Calendar Day 11: Snowman

Each December, Terry and I meet up with my sister and brother-in-law to swap Christmas presents, catch up on gossip and share a nice lunch. This year we decided to meet at Rosebourne a garden centre on the outskirts of Andover.

After a delicious lunch and much laughter, we spent some time walking around looking at all the lovely things on offer, and found a group of snowmen and snowwomen. Is there a collective noun for a group of snow people?   I can’t think of one although a family seems to fit the bill.

I had to smile when I saw these two. Can you feel the love?

  1. I love the snowmen especially the last picture. If they were real people I wonder what he is saying to make her blush........

  4. I suppose the usual joke has to be told
    for the 100th time...
"What's the difference between a Snowman
    and a Snowwoman" ???
    "Snowballs"..!!! :).

And, there does'nt seem to be a word for a
collection of snow people...except for Family,
or Army..Army sounds a bit silly! After all,
    they don'nt do any harm...!

Anyway! Few Snowmen jokes on this cold and frosty
    and wet morning....

What do you call a snowman in the summer?
    A puddle...
What do you call a snowman in the tropics?
    Lost...
What happened when the shy snow~girl ditched
    her snow~boy?
She gave him the cold shoulder...
What do cool snowmen wear on their heads ?
    Ice caps...
What do snowmen eat for lunch?
    Ice-bergers...
Where do snowmen go to dance?
    Snowballs...
How do snowmen travel to the snow-field?
    By icicle...! :0)

    1. I love all the snowman jokes Willie, especially the one about the shy snow girl.

They couldn't be less like an army. Family is good. I thought we would all be out building snowmen this morning but no such luck! :0) x

  5. This time of year is AMAZING for simply being out to enjoy the snow, the people, the art, the celebrations. Oh Barbara, it's fun to enjoy the Advent with my European friends; here in the states, we really don't participate in the Advent days, so it's wonderful to see you and others do as such. Enjoy every single day of celebration!

It might just be me, but I've always found Frosty the Snowman to be a little creepy.

    1. Hi Darlene, we live in a little village in Somerset about an hour and a half away from Andover by car. My sister lives in Basingstoke so Andover is a convenient place to meet. Do you know Andover?

    2. Yes, we have very good friends who live there and we have visited them a few times. Should I plan to visit them, I'll let you know and maybe we can meet up. That would be so great.
