Few mice live in Honey Dell, but two do - Miss Tippee and Miss Toppee. This is the tale of how Miss Tippee and Miss Toppee find a permanent home in a teapot.
Each time I look at the cover of this pretty book I think about;

ReplyDeleteOk, this is absolutely one of my favorites that you've shown. Look at these adorable pictures. And anything with teapot has to be a fun read. I don't eat or drink when I read because I don't like to interrupt my reading. But there's nothing I enjoy more than a nice cup of tea and a cake or biscuit with it. So relaxing and refreshing.
ReplyDeleteI’ve only just noticed the teapot on the front of the book, and the one on the postcard is the same – except that the ‘door’ is in a different place. I suppose it had to be changed because it would have been pretty difficult carrying the ‘dainty teas’ down a ladder!

It used to be called the BBC homes and antiques magazine, but they don’t use the BBC bit any more.
I agree with Donna - this is one of the loveliest posts you've done! These illustrations are beautiful - the detail in them is just gorgeous and they are so finely and delicately done. I think I have a permanent cup of tea at my elbow when I read. I'd nibble on cakes all the while if I could too (I have a real sweet tooth) but I try not to have them in the house most of the time to avoid the temptation!

Tea and cakes? I don't like tea... I love cakes but I'm not supposed to eat them! (They make me ill).
I love to drink tea while reading! It is so relaxing and cozy. I just adored this post and thought it was great to see what you are thinking about while looking at the cover of this book. I think the cover is fascinating and it looks like a book I would enjoy. The other illustrations are so well done. I always enjoyed stories involving mice as a child. :)
ReplyDeleteHello Donna, It was a really easy post to do. As soon as I looked at the cover the pictures to accompany it sort of appeared in my mind – it was then just a question of taking them! It’s not always that easy, I sometimes agonise over what I’m going to say/do for days, but this one was a pleasure. I'm so glad you liked it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sharon. Like I said to Donna it was one of the easiest – so maybe there is a lesson in that. My sweet tooth is my downfall too. A cup of tea is just not the same without a cake or a biscuit. I used to do a lot of running so eating cake was not a problem, but it is now!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you had a copy of it as a child, do the pictures look familiar? Tea, and cakes are my ‘guilty’ pleasures. I don’t like coffee or cola or any fizzy drinks, just good old-fashioned tea. How horrid that something you love makes you ill, that’s so unfair!

ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures here. I laughed when I got to the big cat holding the small teapot! I take coffee when I read (coffee and an occasional slice of peanut cake). I don't think coffee will be substituted for anything else, but I do enjoy rose tea. Iced rose oolong tea is divine!
