This set of six postcards published by
Delittle, Fenwick & Co, Art and Colour printers of York appealed to me because of the story they tell.
They were all sent to Miss Maudie Anscombe,
Ivy Cottage, Guildford during the months of
August and September 1903.

Hi Barbara - I love old postcards and these look to be in such wonderful condition! Its fabulous that you have the whole series - they are so cute and as always the 'story' of the people behind them is so intriguing. If you have more I'd love to see them sometime.
ReplyDeleteI am definitely interested in seeing old post cards! I always like to get a glimpse into the past. The style of the cards you posted is so different from what we see now. I love mail- so I have always thought post cards are a wonderful way to drop someone a line an let them know you are thinking of them. I think the story that the cards tell is is fascinating! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThey are adoreable!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen postcards that tell a story like the one you have here. They are really wonderful. I collect postcards as well, so I would be very interested in seeing more from your collection.
ReplyDeleteThese are really adorable and unusual! I would love to see more of your collection!

ReplyDeleteI agree! Thank you for calling in.
ReplyDeleteHi Alex, I don’t think there can be that many that tell a story quite like this. I've got lots of others and am more than happy to share – it’s nice having someone to share them with! Do you collect a particular kind?
ReplyDeleteGoody I get to share more of my favourite things! Watch out for another postcard post soon. Thanks very much for your comment.
ReplyDeletethese were so fun and yes - love to see more! :D
ReplyDeleteThe characters look like marionettes. How cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks Joleene, there will be no stopping me now! : )
ReplyDeleteHi Donna, I hadn't looked at them like that, but you’re right they do! Thanks as always for your comment.
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see more of your postcards. I love postcards because so many tell a story and some give a social commentary from the day, an event, or social customs in a picture or just a few words.
I'm a nosey parker and love to read the note on the back!
Do you have any of the funny seaside ones?
ReplyDeleteHi Michelle, sorry I don’t have any of the seaside ones. I’ve always liked them just never collected them. I tend to collect anything to do with children’s book illustration or anything that rings a bell with me.
Barbara, these postcards do tell a story. 'Married in Haste' and 'Papa's Reply' caught my attention most. I'm with Donna, too, the characters look like marionettes!
ReplyDeleteHello Claudine, Papa’s reply is my favourite, and the fact that ‘Papa’ sent it adds to the appeal. I agree about the marionettes – they look as if they could dance.
