Primroses and Flower Fairies

Primroses flowering in our garden.

The Primrose Fairy from Cecily Mary Barker's Book of the Flower Fairies

The Primrose opens wide in spring; her scent is sweet and good: It smells of every happy thing in sunny lane and wood. She's dear to folk throughout the land, in her is nothing mean, she freely spreads on every hand her petals pale and clean.

Primroses and fairies on the front cover

I adore spring flowers and fairies...do you? Happy Spring!

The book of the flower fairies is now sold, thank you for your interest.

  1. Yes, I like fairies and Cicely M. Barker.

Happy Spring to you too Barbara. In Australia we are now in Autumn and can feel the change in the weather.

Michelle, that’s another thing we have in common then! Do you follow Megan at Storybook Love Affair? She lives in Adelaide and has just written a lovely post about the things she is looking forward to during the autumn. http://www.storybookloveaffair.blogspot.co.uk/

  4. This is really lovely Barbara - flowers and fairies - two of my favourite things (as I'm sure you already know!) The effect you have achieved is so fresh and beautiful and Cicely M Barker captured the spirit of these fairies so well.

You should maybe link this page to Ewa's Flowers on Saturday at http://blueberrycraftandhobbytime.blogspot.com/

I'm sure you'll enjoy her blog as well if it is one you haven't discovered yet.

Cicely Mary Barker is one of my favourite fairy artists, and this is a very special book because it contains more than forty of her illustrations.

Yes, I do know you like them, and was hoping you would call in to see them. I don’t think there can ever be too many flowers or fairies. Ewa’s flowers on Saturday is new to me, so I’m going to call there now. Thanks Sharon, I appreciate your comment and the link.

Hi Megan, I agree about the primroses and look forward to seeing them every year. The bluebells should be in flower soon – I will have to see if Cicely Mary Barker did a Bluebell fairy – I’m pretty sure she did, so will try to find a pic.

The primroses have been really beautiful this year. It is a lovely book, and the fact that it’s a compilation means you get lots more fairies in one place!
