I think I need those books!! Cute post Barbara.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping that they were able to get themselves published! It sounds like they were doing their homework and trying to find out the secret to success. Amazing what you find in books. It is like glimpsing the person who held the book before you!
ReplyDeleteBarbara, you find the most interesting things! I read this book few years ago when I was stepping out on my writing adventure. (Yet I missed that booklet.) Beginning writers and illustrators DO need courses or books like these as guidance.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing what you find in books. This is a great post. I have also read this book many moons ago. (no pamphlet in it though)
ReplyDeleteIf I buy books privately I know why they are being sold, but this book came from an auction. Let's keep our fingers crossed that he/she is now a famous and successful author.
ReplyDeleteI still get a thrill when pieces of paper flutter out of old books, you just never know what it might be.
Sorry Eve, but I have to disagree. I’m no expert, but I’m pretty certain your writing is way in advance of anything contained in these.
ReplyDeleteYes, I’m sure they must be very useful. I’m not a writer (as you can tell from my blog!) but I am very tempted to read this book.
ReplyDeleteI think the pamphlet is definitely and added extra, and it should be a nice surprise for whoever buys the book.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. It seems this aspiring writer really wanted to make it. Quite a find, I'd say.
ReplyDeleteI agree, and I hope they did!
ReplyDeleteI found the same pamphlet in an old copy of a book entitled ‘the guide to selecting plays’! Did you manage to find out anything interesting about The Writer’s News?
ReplyDeleteSadly not. The book sold and I sent the pamphlet along with it so hopefully it was useful to someone.
