It was wonderful to see visitors and stall holders dressed for the occasion
Could there be a better back drop than Nunney Castle ?
One of the many bric-a-brac stalls
Possibly the worlds largest teddy bear
Music, a moat and a castle...
A snapshot of wartime Britain...
ending with an air raid siren and billowing smoke
Music on every corner
and an appreciative audience
Me, plus camera and flag!
Thank's for a wonderful day
Love it!
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful Barbara - I love the name they chose - it is so clever! Great that everyone dressed up - they got the feel and atmosphere just right. Your pictures are so colourful they made me feel I was right there - and the sun shone - yay!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like another wonderful Nunney Fayre and I really wish I could have been at this one - oh, to be in England...
ReplyDeleteThank you. I love you for saying so!
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon, I didn’t think about dressing up and ended up feeling like I was letting the side down! Maybe next year!
ReplyDeleteIt looked a bit dark and iffy when we left home but the sun came out, and it turned into a glorious day.
Hi Alex, come on over! The sun has been a bit hit and miss this year (very hit and miss) – but it does mean that everything is green and beautiful – so there are compensations.
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara -love your post. I used to live about 1 hour away from Nunney -sadly it's a bit too far away now as I'm in the Lake District, but it looks lovely as ever and a great day. What a fabulous theme also. Wish we could have something like it at one of our fairs. Thanks for all the lovely pictures.
ReplyDeleteOh, how fun! I love when you show us these places you visit. I'm afraid I could never tear myself away from all the fun booths and music. Thanks for showing us this.
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely photos! Congrats :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! I wish I could have gone to the fair. It looks like such fun. I love fairs, costumes, castles, and moats. :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks like good fun. If I lived in England I would definetly attend fairs like this.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place Barbara! This looks like it was a wonderful day out. Thank you for sharing the photographs. I love that huge teddy bear!

Hi Lindsay, thanks for calling in, I’m glad you liked the ‘photos. Yes, it is a beautiful place, I always enjoy visiting.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jess, I had fun taking them. You can probably tell from my blog that I love fairs, castles and moats too!
ReplyDeleteHi Suzy, I’m really glad I shared the ‘photos. I’m always afraid of boring people, but it must have been nice for you to see Nunney again. The Lake District is beautiful, perhaps you should suggest the theme to the management of your local fairs – you never know they might think it’s a good idea – failing that you could organise a fair of your own!
ReplyDeleteHi Donna, we find it difficult to leave! Even with weary legs and longing for a good rest we keep on going! The next day finds us struggling up and down the stairs and complaining loudly about our aching joints. The joys of getting old!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Andreia!
ReplyDeleteHello Darlene, maybe you should plan your next visit to England to coincide with the fair? It’s usually held at the beginning of August, and the sun usually shines!
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautifully cheery shot of you, Barbara! Loved these pictures, and yeah, that teddy bear was huge. Hope you bought lots of interesting stuff?
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun, fabulous fair! Thanks so much for sharing the pictures because it helps me to feel like I am there with you. :) Great picture of you- by the way. It looks like such fun- I wish I could go and sit by the moat and watch everyone. :)
ReplyDeleteHello Claudine, I was happily singing ‘the white cliffs of Dover’ when I realised that Terry was taking my ‘photo. I felt really silly! We bought several bits for the grandchildren but nothing really old or interesting. When Zoe Rose was born, we bought her a little hand made wooden train, each of the carriages was in the shape of a letter that spelt out her name, the same seller was there this year, so we were able to buy a train for Lilly Grace.
ReplyDeleteHi Stephanie, it was a fabulous fair! I love sharing the ‘photos it feels like inviting friends around. I could sit in the same spot and watch people all day long. It's one of my favourite pastimes, and I never got bored. I hope you get to visit one year. It's on every August so you never know.
ReplyDeleteWish I was there. You always attend such interesting events.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a nice sunny day, perfect for a fair.
Hi Michelle, I think you would have enjoyed it, but maybe not as much as the fantastic sounding book sale you went to.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great time was had by all. Wonderful weather too :)
ReplyDeleteWow that looks like terrific fun! I can't wait to see the new website :)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I specially like the one with music, a moat, and a castle, not to mention the good weather (I could actually hear the music from here). With children as an appreciative audience, it sure is a great fair!
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, I got them to turn the music up especially so that you could hear it! Glad you liked the photos. Thanks for calling in.
ReplyDeleteHi Nikki-ann, there were big black clouds when we left home, and we were really worried it would rain, but it turned out to be a beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteI love the Morris dancers and the kilt and the period dresses! Looks like you had a lot of fun at the fair. It's state fair time of year here in the USA, so each state will be holding a fair sometime between now and October. Those are always lots of fun for us.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the ‘photos. Will you be doing a post about your state fair? It would be lovely to see some pics if you do.
