Without further ado, I’d like to announce the results of
what I’ve called Mayhem at March House
Books, the competition to find another title for a Billy and Grandpop
adventure.
I had plenty of ideas to choose from – I feel as if I’ve
been around the world in terrific titles! A big thank you to everyone who
entered.
Before I get to the winner, I’d like to give a “mention in
dispatches” to the two top runners-up (in alphabetical order):
Betrayed in the
Baltics
Rumblings in Russia
Well done to Darlene and Lindsay for those.
And now for the winner – drum roll –
Scrimmage in Singapore
I love the word “scrimmage” which has associations with
“scrum” and “skirmish”. And Singapore? I’ve never been, but my dad spent some
time there many moons ago with the RAF.
So, Claudine, jolly good show! You win a copy of Trouble in Teutonia. Please send an
email to bother@burmeon.com and let me
know your address.
Many of the other ideas have been tucked away for future
inspiration so thank you all. It’s been a lot of fun having a guest spot and
I’ve started looking at some of your varied and intriguing blogs and websites.
And, most of all, a big thank you to Barbara for having me!
Toodle pip for now.
Thanks so much Susan and to everyone who entered and very many
congratulations to Claudine.
Congrats to Claudine! I knew as soon as I saw the title that my dear friend was the winner. :) What a fun way to win a book.
ReplyDeleteThanks Stephanie. I was delighted when I read that Claudine was the winner, but they were all great titles.
DeleteWhat in the world...I see I missed your previous POST ! My friend, I missed you and I am so sorry! Many congratulation to the winner, but Isure missed out!
ReplyDeleteSending you a tight hug! Anita
I’m so sorry you missed out Anita, never mind I will have to think of another contest or perhaps another author will come along with an idea.
DeleteHugs back to you. Barbara
Scrimmage in Singapore is a great title. Congratulations Claudine! Thanks for the mention. Glad you liked mine too.
ReplyDeleteand congratulations to you too Darlene, you obviously came very close to winning. Enjoy the weekend. Barbara
DeleteOh wow! I never thought my suggestion would win when I read what the others had. I particularly enjoyed Darlene's and Stephanie's. Thank you so much, Susan and Barbara! I shall get in touch very soon.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Claudine, I thought it was a great title and was very happy when Susan picked it. Have a happy Sunday. x
DeleteCongrats to the winners.... and I loved the post title..... Lol :D I am kindled in Karnataka (the state in which Bangalore city is.) Thanks Barbara for this nice little 'adventure' :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kokila, that title deserves a win all of its own! Thanks so much for calling in. Barbara.
DeleteThat made me laugh, Kokila - I expect I'll be popping back here when I need some inspiration!
DeleteLook forward to hearing from you, Claudine.
ReplyDeleteAnd a big hug has been caught here! Oh Barbara, have a delightful Sunday! Anita
ReplyDeleteI’m doing a little necessary cleaning today Anita but finding lovely comments from dear friends always make me smile! xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Claudine! Love the title!
ReplyDeleteThat was exciting. 'fraid I didn't win! That's tough, Barbara, having to do some cleaning, I ought to do some too but have had a few problems over past week. Not yet on blog, but it will be or at least I'll tell you about it. I just loved the illustrations on those mysteries, and might try to get hold of one of the books.
ReplyDeleteI know it’s a hard life – but someone has to do it! Sorry to hear you’ve had some problems, hope everything is OK now?
DeleteThey look great don’t they? I’m going to treat myself to a copy of each in the next week or so. I’ve got so many books on the go at the moment I really don’t need any more, but I can’t resist.
Thanks for your kind comments, Campfire, and hope your problems have fizzled away into the sunshine. If you or any other readers would like a look at my publisher's website, it's to be found on http://www.circaidygregory.co.uk - and, strangely enough given your title ideas, one of my fellow authors has written a story set in Estonia during the 2nd WW - for grown-ups rather than children - it's called Forest Brothers.
DeleteSuch a lovely giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the deserving winners x
Hello Yvonne, I think so too!
DeleteThanks for calling in.
Well done and happy reading to Claudine.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tracey I think Claudine was pretty happy to win.
DeleteI commented but it didn't show up. congrats to the winner.
ReplyDeleteSorry about that Donna. I’ve checked the comments received/posted page on the blog and can’t find any others from you, so I’m not sure what happened. Maybe Blogger was having a funny day – it happens quite often!
DeleteHi Barbara,
ReplyDeleteOnce again, I'm late to get to festivities. I shall blame it on my um, hectic celebrity lifestyle:)
Excellent stuff, Claudine. I love alliteration and hearty congrats to her.
Right then, I'm going now.....
Gary
Hi Gary, late, early or somewhere in the middle is just perfect as far as I'm concerned! It's always a pleasure to have your company. Barbara
DeleteSweet Barbara! I too have spent some wonderful time out in the sun and warm air! Thank you for coming to my post after your romp in the sunshine! Isn't this the most pleasant of early summers? Now to go and read in the warm night air....enjoy and thank you for your lovely friendship! Enjoy the weekend, Anita
ReplyDeleteHello Anita, it's another wonderful warm sunny day today. I can feel my bones drying out after all the rain ;0) I hope the sun is shining brightly for you.
DeleteI’ve downloaded a copy of Scarlet Pink Magazine and am looking forward to reading it. I did take a peek at the illustrations and found your name, but I want to wait until I have the time to savour it. Have a wonderful Sunday. xx
