Just before I go, I've been asked to tell you about an adorable book available from Kickstarter (an online platform for independent artists to raise funds for their projects). I don’t often blog about new books, but the artwork in this one is gorgeous.

Synopsis:
Jack the Kitten is full of imagination. One of his favourite things is to imagine he's a pirate. So although Jack is sleepy, he’s convinced pirates don’t go to bed. It's left to his big brother, Machu, to show him all the things that pirates do at bedtime.

The illustration of Machu and Jack brushing their teeth is priceless.

But now the moon was high in the sky and his Momma said it was time for bed.

“Bed?” Jack exclaimed. “Pirates don’t go to bed!”

Maybe pirates don’t need to go to bed but booksellers do, night all  ZZZZZzzzzz.

    1. Thanks Roger, most of the time will be spent at home with just the odd day or two out on trips. I really feel like I could sleep for a week! Good news about ‘Spawn’ I can’t wait to read it!

  2. Pirates and grown-ups with a child-like heart don't go to bed either! Oh Barbara, enjoy yourself and relax, and we will miss you so. Every single image is so sweet and I could cuddle up with any book with such illustrations. ENJOY! MUCH LOVE! Anita

  5. Hi Barbara,

Ah, as I stare at those vintage photos, I get vintage memories of my English childhood. Although, I do notice the young dude smoking a pipe.

Have a nice recharge, Barbara. I could use a recharge myself. Then I shall dance and sing with the magical wee folks in my enchanted garden. Of course I will.

Have some relaxing times, my good friend.

    Gary :)

    1. Hi Gary, the pipe-smoking chap is very unpc, but he made me laugh so had to stay! Can you imagine anyone producing a postcard now-a-days with a young lad smoking a pipe? I think not.
I’m sure the wee folks would be delighted if you were to join in the dancing and general merriment in the enchanted garden. Go do it, and enjoy!
See you in a week or two. Barbara.

    1. Thank you Shashi. We are really looking forward to not doing very much at all. Maybe some days out, a little good food and a general winding down will suit us just fine. I don’t even mind too much if it rains although sunshine would be nicer. If it should rain, I will attack my stack of ‘must-read' books. Terry has been saving films, and TV progs that he wants to watch so he will also be well catered for. See you in a while, Barbara.

    1. Hi Darlene, we were intending to take a break in May, then it moved to June, and if we don’t do it now it will be August! The trouble is as soon as you start talking about a break you realise just how much you need it.
Enjoy the family stuff but try to make time for yourself as well. See you soon, Barbara.
