I’ve always loved school nativities and never more so than when our son and later his sons were in them. I don’t think our little granddaughters in Australia have taken part yet, but I’m sure it can only be a matter of time. It’s a lovely tradition and one I hope will continue long into the future.
Christmas 1996: Our grandson Kip is the little boy on the far left of the picture (third row from the front).
I'm linking with Julie over at Julie's Scrapbook. More from my Advent Calendar tomorrow.
Yes, there is just something about Nativity. I have always loved them in any form

There must have been lots of mums, dads, nannies and granddads shedding a few silent tears at this year’s school nativities. I can never watch one without crying! :-) xx
DeleteMERRY CHRISTMAS

DeleteLove. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteMerry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely Christmas and a very happy New Year.
DeleteLove the photo! Happy Christmas, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThanks Valerie, Happy Christmas. xx
DeleteI simply adore the recreation of the Nativity, whoever tries it. The baby Jesus is either represented by a sweet little person or a plastic doll! HAHAHAHAHAH And either one is endearing and I just wonder if our heavenly king smiles upon us....happy Christmas dearest Barbara!
ReplyDeleteI'm quite sure he does Anita. Happy Christmas dear friend.
DeleteWonderful photo to celebrate today's calendar. Your grandson is adorable. I know how proud you are of him and all the times you sat through the nativity presentation with your children and grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteThis brought back memories of when I participated. But most of all, I remember the first time I saw a Nativity was at our church. I was 5 and as the shepherds walked down the aisle, I pointed to my next door neighbor and said rather loudly, "Why is Les in his bathrobe?" I think my grandparents (who raised me from birth) wanted to crawl in a hole and hide. Out of the mouths of babes!
See you tomorrow.
That is such a lovely memory, and I’m quite sure your grandparents thought it was the cutest thing ever! Terry and I still chuckle about all the things our son and grandsons said or did when they were younger. It’s so nice to have those memories.
DeleteThank you so much for all your visits, I will catch up with your blog after Christmas.
Hugs Barbara
How adorable! This is the best Advent Calendar ever, Barbara. Thank you for posting everyday this December !
ReplyDeleteand thank you for visiting everyday Colleen! xx
DeleteBeautiful memories.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember a nativity recreation in our largely secular society. Not ever.
My memories go way back (almost 70 years!) and I can still remember being in a nativity play when I was about five years old. Lovely memories which may be a little different from yours, but I’m quite sure yours are equally lovely. x
DeleteThese nativity scenes are so cute. I remember as a Sunday School teacher trying to organize them. It was never easy!!
ReplyDeleteI loved Sunday school it was always my favourite day of the week, especially around Christmas time. I remember all of my teachers, so there must be lots of children who remember you too. :-)
DeleteHi Barbara,
ReplyDeleteAwe bless and how wonderful to see that photo. You've brought a memory of my son in the Nativity play. He was a shepherd and he spent a lot of the time hurling a toy sheep up in the air! :)
Gary
I’ve got a big smile on my fact picturing your son and that toy sheep!
DeleteHappy Christmas xx
This is WAY too adorable!
ReplyDeleteI hope your Christmas was VERY merry!
We had a thoroughly enjoyable Christmas thank you Jeanie, hope you did too.
DeleteSo precious! One of my earliest memories, is being in a school Nativity scene.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a great Christmas Barbara! I'm trying to catch up in blog land, now that things are getting kind of back to normal! Big Hugs!
I’m trying to catch up to, but if I don’t get over to see you for a few days, you can be sure I’m thinking about you. Hugs Barbara
DeleteNice nativity picture and the picture in the last post, too, with Father Christmas. Where would we be without photographs to keep all our special memories alive?!
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling we would forget many of them, which would be a shame.
DeleteLovely memories. Kip was such a cutie and I suspect still is:)
ReplyDeleteHappy holidays, Barbara.
Hugs
He is as cute as! :)
DeleteHugs Barbara
