Added Value: Things found in books part one

One of the additional pleasures of buying second-hand books is finding something interesting, sad or funny left behind by a previous owner. People use all sorts of things as bookmarks (including bookmarks) and then forget about them.

Grumpy Cat?

The back of this cat illustration has part of a children’s story printed on it, so I can only imagine it was cut from a book and then used as a bookmark. Someone has carefully outlined part of the image with bright-red stitches.

Cat 'bookmark' found in this Daily Mail annual for boys and Girls published in 1952.

How about you? What do you use as a bookmark? Have you ever found a lost bookmark?
