I wander in a valley full of mist today, In cloud so low I feel its breath.
If you are a regular reader of my blog, you might well recognise the above photograph. I first shared it in January of this year, along with several other photographs taken by my husband. If you would like to see more, please visit
I'm linking with Julie over at Julie's Scrapbook. More from my Advent Calendar tomorrow.
What a gorgeous photo, I love seeing frost and mist. Have great day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteTerry took some really lovely photos on that walk, and he let me share them, which was nice. Have a super day. x
DeleteBeautiful picture. It'll make a lovely Christmas card
ReplyDeleteJulie xxxx
I think you are right Julie, I must suggest that to Terry. xx
DeleteWhat a fantastic photo. Your husband must be a photographer, or at the very least, has an eye for photography. This truly denotes Winter.
ReplyDeleteHe is a photographer, works for several local papers and companies. His photos always show mine up! :)
DeleteBreathtaking, as only the hoarfrost can do....what a GORGEOUS image.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anita, I will pass that on to Terry.
DeleteBrilliant! That is one frosty morning.
ReplyDeleteIt was jolly cold, especially as we had to stop lots of times to take photos. It was worth it though.
DeleteYour words -- feel its breath -- so very, very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHello Jeanie, we can’t take any credit for the words because they are part of a beautiful poem by Les Derbyshire.
DeleteI wander in a valley full of mist today,
In cloud so low I feel its breath.
The scattered villages ghostly ride
Upon a sea of fine white silk,
Float silently among the fields.
Through muslin-curtained sky
I glimpse the sun's pale disc;
He finds no welcome here
And hurries on to warm some other hillside.
Nothing in your web will you catch today, spider!
It hangs in the hedgerow
A vision of bright diamonds.
Patient cattle in the yard
Breathe soundless clouds.
No flight of bird disturbs the grey-lit sky
Nor song delight the ear.
The muffled stream withholds its playful voice,
Glides softly on its way.
I turn aside
And through the enfolding air I trace again my homeward road.
What a beautiful photo from Terry. You live in an enchanting landscape, Barbara! I will be sorry when Advent ends this year because I am enjoying finding your surprise for us every day!
ReplyDeleteThank you Colleen it is so nice of you to say that. I’ve enjoyed putting it all together but knowing you are enjoying it makes me very happy.
DeleteBeautiful picture! Terry's photographs are gorgeous. I don't know why it took me so long to follow his blog (didn't see it??), thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't post all that often but when he does he shares some beautiful photos. Enjoy!
DeleteBeautiful picture. Wondrous verse. Very moving.

Glad you liked it.
DeleteI just went to visit his site. He has such a gift of expression.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra, I will tell him you said so.
DeleteI love days like that. Today's it's been grey and drizzly, but it was crisp and frosty earlier in the week.
ReplyDeleteArilx
Frosty days are so much nicer than those grey and drizzly ones. x
DeleteThat is a truly glorious photo and scene. Thank you so much for your Christmas wishes - and I hope yours is filled with love and laughter.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. Hugs Barbara
DeleteI do recognize that path and it looks very wintry!
ReplyDeleteIt was a freezing cold day but very lovely.
DeleteHi Barbara,
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing, magical photograph. It looks very much like what the countryside was like up here in Staffordshire last week.
Thank you.
Penny's human dad,
Gary 😀
Hi Garry and Penny,
DeleteWe missed the worst of last week’s weather being down in Somerset, but we saw how chilly it was where you are.
Thanks for visiting. Have a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year. :-)
That was truly a great photo. J hope you all have a lovely Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThanks Roger, you too.
DeleteA stunning set of photos to accompany a gorgeous poem that captures the brittle silence of winter. Please pass on my compliments to your very talented husband!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Sue, I will be sure to let Terry know. x
